While on the subject of volunteering please can I put out a call out for 3 volunteers to finish digging the trench to secure the water supply (a very important resource for the club). Please liaise with the secretary (secretary@midlandgliding.club) to offer your services as the office is not open until the 7th of December.

The photos below show what a fantastic job is being done on our K13s.  We are anxious to get all of the gliders through the Arc process before the dreaded B….. deadline.

Following on from an email sent to members last week, today is the last chance for you to have your say in what you want from our Cross Country Development program in 2019.

If you have already responded, we thank you, but if you haven’t and you have an interest in Cross Country gliding, we hope you will take the time to fill in this short (2 questions) questionnaire, so we can best tailor our 2019 program to suit you. It should take no more than 3 minutes, and will really help us deliver what you want in this area of flying

Please use this link … https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9TVPLVV

You can use the comments box at the end to add anything else you’d like to see. If you have any other lengthier comments, or wish to discuss your own particular cross country circumstances, please do contact us at XCDevelopment@midlandgliding.club

Answers will be collated this evening (Fri 23rd Nov) so please don’t delay.

Cheers, Mark

Last committee meeting

Most of this was spent on the strategy so the meeting was quite tight, the highlights are:-

The Discus sale is now attracting more interest.

The BGA  business rates representative visited the club on the 9th and told us about the process and advised us on how to best proceed.  This really is a superb commitment on behalf of the BGA and we are extremely grateful.

Motor Glider – good progress has been made on the registration, the production of pricing and operational procedures.  Some instructors are getting the TMG rating added to their qualification.

Bye Laws – especially relating to dogs in the clubhouse.  The secretary will take to the members meeting or publish as a reminder if there isn’t time.

Trailers.  The CFI has taken the trailer maintenance under the fleet umbrella and there will be a schedule starting with the open trailer over the winter.  Thanks to Dave Crowson and Dave Cole for getting the heater donated by Steve Alexander working in the old MT shed

Hi everyone,  this is the regular Thursday posting to let you know what is coming up in the near future

This week

Good news and bad news

I am delighted to say that Steve Male will be back in harness as CFI from the 1st of November but of course it saddens us that Simon has to step back.  Seriously though, I am sure I reflect the feelings of all of you when I thank Simon for stepping into the breach and doing such a superb job for us.  We are very fortunate in having such depth of instructing ability.

Winter season

Just to remind you that as from the 4th of November the club is on winter opening times, which means flying is always available on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  If there is an exceptional forecast then we will try to arrange launching and direction via the WhatsApp group.

The office will be open Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday.

Your team this weekend is:

Saturday:  Chris Alldiss, Allan Reynolds, Geoff Dailey, John O’Reilly

Sunday:  Clive Crocker, Charles Carter, Geoff Dailey
