Course Instructors 2024
Established in 1934, the Midland Gliding Club has a long history of training from the pilots of World War II to current members of the British Team. Today, we aspire to be one of the go to clubs for training from first flight to licence issue.
We are blessed with a five mile long west facing ridge. We enjoy frequent waves in many directions and are blessed with very little controlled airspace. We are a gateway location to the whole of Wales and the rest of England.
We are a winch only site and because of our elevated position can often launch to around 3000’ above sea level. However, the local topography requires an additional skill set and an understanding of hilltop sites.
Our training fleet include two K21’s, including one fresh out of the wrapper for the 2024, K13’s, K8, K23, Junior and a Falke Motor glider. Our ground school includes modern AV equipment and a simulator.
We are one of the few clubs with everything on site: accommodation, bar, catering, and stunning views….
We are seeking professional instructor(s) to support our seven day a week operation, for the next course season (April through September 2024). This role does not require weekend working. Following a successful first season, a longer-term relationship with the right candidate may be possible.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, safety conscious and disciplined team player. You should be at least a BGA Assistant Category Instructor, or equivalent and have a Class 2 Medical. You should also have experience of winch launch instructing, preferably from a hill site, though this is not essential. A TMG rating would be an advantage.
You are not required to live on site but accommodation or a caravan space is available. The pay and benefits package is competitive. We will consider part time or part of the season for the right candidates.
If you are to be considered, we will follow up with a more detailed job description and terms of employment and ask for a detailed CV of your gliding experience.
If you would like to experience instructing at the Mynd we can arrange for you to support this year’s courses for a week to try it out, for which we will be happy to negotiate remuneration. Please get in touch.
Further discussion is welcome and initial expressions of interest should be made by phone to our chairman: James Moore on 07711 191814 or email: chairman@midlandgliding.club
